Food Handler Certification
A food handler certificate in Qatar has three parts. The parts are a Medical Commission health certificate, a food safety test and license, and Wathiq registration. The employer manages the file, and the employee completes the medical and test steps.
The certificate is not a visa. The certificate is a work requirement for people who handle food, and inspectors check it during visits. Meem can review the employer file before the first appointment.

Anyone who handles food in a food establishment needs a valid food handler certificate. That includes kitchen staff, waiters, baristas, food packers, supervisors, butchers, bakers and delivery staff who handle food.

The Wathiq registration needs a valid health certificate and a food establishment that is already active in Wathiq.
The Medical Commission health certificate covers food handlers and related professions. The employee needs a recent photo, QID or residence permit, and the company registration card. A first-time applicant also needs a passport or entry visa. A work permit or secondment approval is needed when the sponsor differs.
The fee is QAR 20. The estimated service time is 6 days. The job role must match the company's commercial activity. A mismatch can delay the medical file.
The employer registers the organization with Qatar Chamber and receives a registration ID. The employer then adds each candidate and books the test.

Wathiq is the MoPH system for food establishments and food handlers. The establishment must be registered and active in Wathiq before it can add a food handler.
The Wathiq file needs a personal photo, a valid health certificate and the supervisor's food safety certificate. The supervisor needs an academic qualification in food manufacturing or food sciences, or a food safety certificate.
