Metrash Guide Qatar cover with a phone showing 400+ MOI services

Table of Contents

Metrash is the Ministry of Interior (MOI) mobile app for Qatar, and it replaced the older Metrash2 app in 2025. A QID holder gets one login to more than 400 MOI services on a phone. The services cover traffic, visas, residency, exit permits, and police clearance. The app is free and keeps official documents in an e-wallet. You register it with your QID, a Qatar mobile number, and your date of birth.

Key Takeaways

  • Metrash is the official Ministry of Interior app for Qatar, published by Ministry Of Interior – Qatar.
  • It replaced the older Metrash2 app, which was discontinued in March 2025.
  • One account reaches more than 400 MOI services for traffic, citizens, residents, and visa holders.
  • You register an individual account with your QID, a Qatar mobile number, and your date of birth.
  • A company registers a separate account with the company ID and an authorised person’s QID.
  • The app is free, works in six languages, and stores official documents in an e-wallet.

What Is the Metrash App and What Can You Do With It?

Metrash is the mobile app of the Ministry of Interior in Qatar. Citizens and residents use it to reach more than 400 MOI services from a phone. No service-centre visit is needed for those tasks. The app is free to download and free to use for individuals.

The app is organised into service groups that mirror the MOI departments. The first groups are traffic inquiries, visa services, exit and entry permits, and residency permits. The groups then cover police clearance (PCC), document verification (DCV), QPost services, and other inquiries. Each group holds the tasks that belong to that area. The Ministry of Interior states the app is secure and encrypted. The app runs in Arabic, English, French, Spanish, Hindi, and Urdu. An e-wallet holds official documents (see the Metrash entry on the Hukoomi mobile-apps directory).

What Happened to Metrash2?

The old Metrash2 app was discontinued on 1 March 2025, and the Ministry of Interior asked users to move to the new Metrash app (see The Peninsula Qatar report on the Ministry of Interior announcement). The replacement app launched in December 2024. Metrash2 no longer works, and reinstalling it does not bring it back.

If you have an old Metrash2 account, you keep the same identity. Log in to Metrash with the same QID and confirm the one-time password. The app carries your MOI services under the QID, so you do not start a new record.

How to Download the Official Metrash App

Download Metrash from the official store listing. The publisher is Ministry Of Interior – Qatar. Get it from Google Play or the Apple App Store. Both listings name Ministry Of Interior – Qatar as the developer.

Always check the publisher before you install. Only the Ministry Of Interior – Qatar listing is the real app. The Google Play listing shows more than one million downloads. The Apple listing ranks second in Utilities in Qatar.

Common mistake: installing an old or copycat app. The Metrash2 app no longer works, and clone listings exist. Confirm the developer is Ministry Of Interior – Qatar before you enter any personal details.

How to Register Metrash With Your QID

Register an individual account with your QID. Enter the QID number, a mobile number registered to that QID, and your date of birth. Choose a language, then confirm the SMS one-time password. The Ministry of Interior lists these fields on the Metrash for Individuals subscription (see the MOI Metrash services page).

  1. Your Qatar ID (QID) number, which is 11 digits.
  2. A Qatar mobile number registered to your QID, which is 8 digits.
  3. Your date of birth in the format yyyy/mm/dd.
  4. Your preferred language, Arabic or English.
  5. The verification code shown on the screen, then the SMS one-time password.

You can change the registered mobile number or unsubscribe later from the same page. When the mobile number is not registered to the QID, the one-time password will not arrive. Update the number on the QID first.

How to Register the Metrash App for a Company or Establishment

A company registers a separate account, called Metrash for Companies and Establishments. You enter the company ID, an authorised person’s QID, a business email, and a mobile number. Most guides leave this section out, and it is the one a business needs most.

  • Company ID number, entered in three parts: 2 digits, 4 digits, and 2 digits.
  • The authorised person’s QID number, 11 digits.
  • A business email address, up to 50 characters.
  • A mobile number, 8 digits.

The company account is built for establishments. The account also reaches visa services, exit and entry permits, and residency permits inquiry. A PRO team can run establishment cards, visa and residency work, and exit permits from the company account. No counter visit is needed. The company ID is the three-part registration number, not the QID.

How to Log In and Add a Second Device

Log in with your QID and the one-time password the app sends to your registered mobile number. Forgot the password? Reset it and confirm the new one by SMS. A login only works on the registered mobile number.

To use the same account on a second phone, use the secondary subscription. On the MOI page this is the Secondary Receiver for Metrash Service. The user type is Service Owner or Additional Number. One number stays the main receiver and the second number receives a copy of the same account.

What Services Does the Metrash App Cover?

Metrash groups its MOI services under a fixed set of categories. The groups are Traffic Inquiries, Visa Services, Exit and Entry Permits, and Residency Permits inquiry. The list continues with PCC Inquiry, DCV Inquiry, QPost Services, and Other Inquiries. Each group holds the tasks for that department.

Each group holds real tasks. Police clearance runs through PCC Inquiry. The Meem guide to the Qatar police clearance certificate walks through that application. Visa and residency work connects to the family route. The Qatar family visa requirements guide covers the documents and steps.

Metrash App vs the MOI Website: Which Should You Use?

Use the app for quick checks and updates, and the website for long forms and large uploads. Both reach the same MOI services, so pick by the task in front of you.

The Metrash App

  • Fast on a phone, with the account already logged in.
  • Best for inquiries, status checks, and documents in the e-wallet.
  • Works for both individual and company accounts.

The MOI Website

  • A wider screen, easier for long applications.
  • Better for document uploads and large forms.
  • A fallback when the app will not open or update.

Metrash Problems and How to Fix Them

Metrash has a few common problems. The list is a missing one-time password, an app that will not open, a large document photo, and a failed payment. Each one has a simple first fix.

  • One-time password not arriving: confirm the mobile number is registered to your QID. Wait a few minutes, then request the code again.
  • App not opening: update to the latest version, clear the app cache, then reinstall from the official listing.
  • Document upload fails: users report a photo size limit of about 500 KB. Reduce the photo size before you upload.
  • Payment fails: check the card or wallet balance and retry, then use the MOI website if the app still fails.
  • Old Metrash2 will not open: the old app is discontinued. Install Metrash and log in with your QID.
